Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Counsify. They are written to be read, not to be impressive. Please actually read them.

What Counsify is
Counsify is a free tool that helps community college students plan their transfer to a four-year university. It gives you an AI assistant that can answer questions from your college's published catalog and articulation agreements, and a builder that helps you assemble a semester by semester plan.
Counsify is an independent project. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Saddleback College, the South Orange County Community College District, or any university named in the app. Their names and course information appear because they are public.
What Counsify is not
This is the most important section on this page.
Counsify is a planning aid. It is not official academic advice, it is not a degree audit, it is not an evaluation of your progress toward a degree or toward transfer, and it does not enroll or register you in anything.
Course requirements, articulation agreements, and transfer policies change, sometimes mid year. The information Counsify works from is published data that was accurate when it was collected, and it can be out of date or incomplete. Every plan you build here is a draft to take to a human counselor, who is the person who can confirm it.
You are responsible for verifying your plan with a counselor at your college before relying on it. If you follow a plan from Counsify without checking it and it turns out to be wrong, that outcome is yours. We say this plainly because the alternative is letting you believe something that is not true.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, some features are limited, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You need an account, and you agree that the information you give us when you create one is accurate. One account per person.
AI, and its limits
SADIE is an artificial intelligence. She makes mistakes. She can misread a requirement, miss a condition printed on a page, or state something confidently that is wrong.
She cites her sources so you can check them, and you should. When she cites a catalog page, look at the page. When she builds you a plan, take it to a counselor.
Your messages are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. Nobody trains a model on them.
What you agree not to do
Do not use Counsify to break the law, to harass anyone, or to try to extract information about other students. Do not attempt to manipulate SADIE into ignoring her instructions, to overload the service, or to access parts of the system that are not yours. Do not scrape the service or resell what it produces.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
Your content
Your conversations and plans are yours. We do not claim ownership of them. We store them so the product works, and we delete them when you delete your account.
You give us permission to process what you write for the purpose of running Counsify and answering you, and for nothing else.
Availability
Counsify is free, and it is run by one person. It may be unavailable, it may change, and it may stop. We will give notice if we can, but we do not promise uptime, and we do not promise the service will exist indefinitely. Export or print anything you need to keep.
No warranty
Counsify is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non infringement. We do not warrant that the information in the app is complete, current, or correct, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Counsify and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost opportunity, delayed graduation, additional tuition, lost credit, or denied admission, arising out of your use of the service or your reliance on information it provides.
Because Counsify is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to fifty United States dollars.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time, from your profile, in three taps. It is immediate and permanent.
We can suspend or close an account that violates section 5, or discontinue the service entirely.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California.
Changes
If we change these terms, the effective date at the top changes and we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. Continuing to use Counsify after a change means you accept it.
If part of this is unenforceable
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
